Washington State building Code changes mandate that by Jan 1 2011 for all new residential construction ( R1, R2, R3) must have CO detectors installed.

By July1, 2013 alarms must be installed in all existing dwelling and sleeping units (R1, R2, R3).

Owner Occupied detached single family dwellings legally occupied before July 1 2010 are exempt from the new requirements
